Accessibility Standards for Healthcare

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is in the process of releasing a manual outlining the Accessibility Standards for Healthcare, in a bid to ensure that all persons with disabilities in India are able to receive accessible healthcare services everywhere in a standardized manner. The manual aims to include a comprehensive set of guidelines on all aspects necessary to create an accessible environment for persons with disabilities - from infrastructure and equipment to the services that should be provided. The Ministry hopes to fulfill the requirements outlined within the UNCRPD and the Rights of Persons With Disabilities Act, 2016, through this manual.

As part of the process of framing and releasing these guidelines, the Ministry invites inputs and comments on the manual from experts, civil society members, and persons with disabilities themselves- deadline is July 2, 2022. In an effort to support the Ministry with this process, Rising Flame seeks to draft and compile inputs and send in a comprehensive list of recommendations. We invite you to send in your inputs on the manual to us by Tuesday, 28th June 2022 on team@risingflame.org , so we can make sure your voice is included in this exercise. Please find a copy of the draft manual attached below, and do feel free to reach out in case you require any support.
